GUIDE ARGOT DE LA DEGAINE
In collaboration with Argot, Moriba Koné, and Abiola Ulrich OBAONRIN
Forty years of style, two years of research, and one guiding idea: to bear witness and transmit. This book pays a vibrant tribute to an entire culture—ours. The culture that emanates from the working-class neighborhoods, rarely visible on the runways, struggling to find a place in the offices of the designers who draw inspiration from it.
The Slang Guide to Style aims to document, through illustrations and interviews, the sociological, political, and economic dimensions of clothing in working-class neighborhoods.
I had the honor of creating about twenty illustrations for this book. This project is one of the most important to me, as it allowed me to convey my identity and that of the working-class environments I share with my close ones.
